Want to get a sneak peak of the villain who will provide competition to Christian Bale’s Batman in the forthcoming sequel to The Dark Knight? Want to download and watch rare footage of Django Reinhardt live in a Mexican pub? Youtube is the answer to all your questions. No wonder alexa lists it as the second most visited website. With a daily viewership of over 600 million netizens around the globe, Youtube is truly the one-stop solution for all video uploading and sharing worries.

Youtube is easy to use and has an extremely well designed interface for video uploading. It is optimized for 18 different languages from the various parts of the world. A large number of its users are of Asian origin. Generally the videos of YouTube are on anything and everything under the sun.

Some of those videos are quirky and funny; others are serious, reflecting deep and serious matters like a campaign against eve teasing. All in all, Youtube serves as a potential hotbed for showcasing one’s hidden talents and potentials. This definition can encompass a whole lot of things ranging from the video of an underground band to a spoof on Bush and Laden.

You tube is being actively used by established film makers and amateurs alike to showcase their work either in the form of trailers or short films. Many song videos are specifically generated keeping in mind the Youtube viewership. Who knows, in the near future, there might be giant screens for streaming films on Youtube just as we see them at cinema halls and multiplexes!

In order to reap the benefits of YouTube, the first thing that you need to do is to shoot your video using a decent digital camcorder or a mobile phone with video recording capabilities. It is preferable that your video is of medium resolution as higher resolution videos require greater the number of frames per second, which in turn means an extended buffering time!

In contrast, a low quality video starts pixelating once it is viewed in the full screen mode. Use a camera stand if available to do away with unnecessary hand vibrations.

If your recording instrument has a dedicated sound recording equipment like an external microphone then the sound won’t be a problem. Otherwise, you would have to get your subjects closer to the recorder or make them raise their voices so that they are perfectly audible without being too loud at the same time. Lighting conditions of the morning need to be exploited. If you have an external handheld light for shooting night time or dark sequences, then it won’t bother you much. In absence of proper lighting massive underexposure occurs with only the silhouettes of the subjects visible.

Once you have got your video and transferred it to the computer through an USB or a Firewire port, edit the video using a software program like Windows Movie Maker or Adobe Premiere before finally uploading it on the net. The level of editing depends entirely on you since you have to keep in mind that the closest and the most unknown human being from the remotest corner of the planet would be viewing your video.

It is advisable that adult content be kept to a bare minimum, since YouTube doesn’t permit pornographic videos to be displayed. Even those videos which may be passed off as being subjected to Parental Guidance can only be viewed only if you are above 18 years of age.

After the editing comes the task of uploading the video on the net. First of all, you would need to have a YouTube account. In order to open one, just provide the required personal details and a username and a password. Then YouTube’s highly user friendly and intuitive interface will help you upload your videos.

Once, uploaded the video will be up there for constructive criticism. Sometimes things do get nasty between two users with polar opinions but there is always a moderator in Youtube who filters the mud slinging practice to a mere trance of its former self.

In the YouTube forums one may participate and share his opinions regarding the videos. That way you will embrace a technology that is here to stay and on top of that you will also become a more learned filmmaker.

Uncovering Your Niche Ideas – Part 4

Another great resource for finding new ideas is Amazon.com.

Take a look at the Bestsellers section, whether it is for books or for any of the other items that Amazon sell. This will show you exactly what people want to buy, and, as we have already established, the best business you could ever have is one that sells exactly what people are clamoring to spend their money on.

If it is a book, look for customer reviews. The more people who have already reviewed it, the more interest that indicates, and the more reason there would be to think about building a site around that topic.

Is it something that you can empathize with and enjoy? If so, then the chances of your being able to create a site that is genuinely worth visiting and viewing is that much higher.

Remember that coming up with the niche markets that you are eventually going to work with starts with nothing more than an idea.

Hopefully, by now you should be building an ever increasing list of just such ideas. We are not, however, finished with idea generation just yet.

Uncovering Your Niche Ideas – Part 3

Another site that I would visit to get an idea of exactly what people are looking for on the net is Google Trends.

This site shows the hottest terms used to search the world’s number one search engine over the last 24 hours.

This page changes literally every day, and therefore you should not make the mistake of trying to build a website around the number one search term, as the chances are very strong that it will not be number one in a couple of days.

The results on the Google Trends page tend to be heavily influenced by current events and what is popular on the TV and on the internet, so I would not necessarily automatically plump for what you see on the first page.

google-trend1

For example, clicking on the most popular hot trend of the day would show you this result:

pga-championship1

This clearly indicates that this particular search term has only become popular in the last few hours!

If, however, you were to click on the ‘more hot trends’ link on the Google Trends homepage, then you would see the top 100 recent searches.

Click on any of the results on this page and you will be shown a very short-term performance chart similar to the one above. This is of little use to you, but try taking any term you are interested in and typing it into the search box at the top of the page as indicated:
